Say hello to Chloe

I was so sad when my precious Lucy got sick recently and had to be put to sleep.  She developed a respiratory infection that went into pneumonia.  We tried every antibiotic they make for pets but she did not respond to anything and after a week in the hospital we had to let her go.  There was so much sadness in our house that even Barney ( my cockatiel) quit whistling and actually stopped making any sounds for a week and a half.  I know that is hard to believe- but that bird (who normally whistles at everyone who enters my house) did not make a sound for over ten days.  I was so afraid that he had gotten sick too-but to our surprise he started whistling again once Chloe came into the picture.  Coincidence?  I don't think so!

To my surprise, Martin said that he wanted to get another dog right away because it was just too sad without a dog in the house.  Lucy had been with us for over four years and there was such a void once she was gone!  I was even more surprised when Martin said that he wanted to be the one to pick out our new pet.  I think he did a really great job-she is adorable!

Almost done

So here is my second guest bedroom (Ryan's old room) just about completed.  I was so excited to be able to use Jessica's bed that we bought when she outgrew her crib.  I have lots of memories reading her bedtime stories and cuddling with her during thunderstorms in this little bed. It has a pull out trundle so I can sleep two people in this room now.

The rug is an old braided rug from Fredricksburg that I snatched at a consignment store.  I was able to talk the sales lady into giving it to me for half price so I only paid $75.00!  It is in perfect condition and exactly the color I wanted!

I found this old shelf at an antique store in Mineola.  I had a small space that was perfect to hang it.

I came across this little night stand at the same consignment shop here in town and got it for only 20.00.  I need to decide on window treatments and get Martin to put my base boards back on then it will be done.  I have some wooden valances that Jess is going to help me decorate and I will post pics of those later.
